Stress is something that we all have to deal with at some point or another. It usually hits us right in the face or at a moments notice, but sometimes it sneaks up on us. I think that stress is the devil’s way of forcing a person to cripple himself. You may say, “Well, everything is stressing me out.” That’s not completely true. The things that are going on in your life have the potential of stressing you out, but the outcome is really up to you.
God provides us with a stress reliever in His holy word. With Psalms 55:22, He says, “Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall. In 1 Peter 5:7, He says, “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” Those passages make it seem easy- just give your stress to the Lord! Attempting to actually do that may seem to make matters worse (because we want to know that everything is taken care of in our right), but the outcome will be just the opposite.
We, as Christians, have to learn how to give glory unto God in every situation. We do that when we cast our cares upon Him. When we do that, we are admitting that we can’t make it without Him, thus bringing glory unto His name.
These past two weeks have opened up high pressure situations and more opportunities for potential stress, as we have been getting ready for our Grand Opening at EPIC Church. But right now I am reminded of He who is my stress reliever- my Redeemer, my Rescuer, and my Savior.
