Hot, Cold, or Lukewarm?
The Christmas season is one of my favorite times of the year. I love putting on a nice sweater, grabbing a cup of coffee, and listening to a great holiday tune. There is something about cold weather and snow on the ground that can quickly change your mood. There are some that hate the holiday season – primarily because of the weather. I have learned that it is all a matter of preference – some like it hot and some like it cold.
Revelation 3:15-18 says, “So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth. You say, ‘I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’ But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked. I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire.”
Cool, lukewarm weather, seems to be comfortable to everyone. Everyone loves a nice 70 degree day in the spring! But living in the hot or cold is uncomfortable and that is exactly where God wants us. That is when the sweat begins to flow, that is when the shivers come, and that is when the change take place!
You may not like the heat of the summer and you may not like the ice of the winter, but when it comes to serving God there is only one way to go. Don’t be lukewarm! Don’t hang in the balance not making a decision. Be hot – on fire for God!
So what are you Hot, Cold, or Lukewarm?
