This was my introduction speech about myself in my speech class. Check it out:
Culture, Color, City, Creativity, Christ, Crime, Connection, Consecration.
These eight words describe who I am, where I’ve been, and who I am becoming. My name is Dustin McClellan, I am 19 years old, and I was born and raised in Pontiac, Michigan. Pontiac is an inner city suburb located 30 miles north of Detroit. It’s a city of 70,000 people, sometimes called “mini-Detroit” because of it’s culture. The culture consists of crime, violence and poverty. The crime is often linked to the color of one’s skin. Because of my background and culture, I had every opportunity to become a statistic and to be a stereotype, just so that I could be sidelined. But that wasn’t the case. That wasn’t the case because of a connection that was made in my life. That connection was with Christ. That connection allowed me to unleash my creativity. My creativity fuels my consecration. My consecration defines me.
Those eight words: Culture, Color, City, Creativity, Christ, Crime, Connection, and Consecration, describe who I am, where I’ve been, and who I am becoming.
