For whatever reason, we often think that God is mad at us. It’s usually when things don’t seem to be going our way that somewhere out of left field and in despair, we get the idea that God is mad at us and may be out to get us. It’s probably at this point that God actually wants to get mad!
It happens all of the time -even in scripture. It was Jacob that said to those around him “Everything is against me” in Genesis 42:36. Jacob may have thought that God was out to get him, but he didn’t even know that his son Joseph had been taken away in the past, just so that God could show how much he loved him in the future.
Some scholars even believe that when Jesus cried out “ELOI, ELOI, LAMA SABACHTHANI” (My God, My God why have you forsaken me) right before he died, that it was in a moment of fleshly despair. We know (as Jesus knew) that that entire event occurred because God is madly in love with us, to the point that he would send his son to die for us.
When you think that God is mad at you…you should probably start thinking about how much God loves you. Every trial and situation that we go through only takes place so that we can be stronger, bolder, and wiser. It’s just like when a parent is raising a child. The child always thinks that his or her parents are out to get them. But that’s not the case at all. The parents are so madly in love with the child to the point that they will do whatever it takes to make sure that they grow up and live life the right way.
Get this today: Stop thinking that God is mad and out to get you when life doesn’t go the way you’d like it to. The trials and situations that you are going though are only taking place because God is madly in love with you! God is not mad at you – He’s madly in love with you!
